Your Gift of Time Can Make All the Difference

“I feel like the more volunteer work I do with Home & Hope… the more I see all people as being one, with similar hopes, fears, and aspirations. Through this work, I get to practice becoming a better person while helping others to do the same.”
-Jennifer J., volunteer

Home & Hope engages volunteers from partner congregations, community organizations, and businesses to provide support to our families every day of the year.

It’s nearly impossible for families to make long-term change without supportive resources. Volunteers not only provide the tangibles of food and shelter, they bring hope and stability to families facing devastating circumstances.

In the midst of the COVID-19 situation, Home & Hope and our congregations are committed to creating a safe environment for our volunteers and our families.

You can make a difference in the lives of our homeless families. Our opportunities are divided into four categories: set up and take down, dinner, evening activity, and overnight volunteers. Every day, each of these roles is critical to supporting our families. You have the opportunity to truly help families in need by signing up as an individual to do a single task or signing up as a team to take on a whole night.

Set Up and Take Down Volunteers

Set up sleeping areas for our families to rest, relax, and have privacy. Take down these same areas once our families have rotated to the next congregation for the week.

Dinner Volunteers

  • Grocery shop for our families’ meals for the week.
  • Prepare meals for families.
  • Stay and eat together family-style, if you choose.

Evening Activities Volunteers

  • Spend some quality time in the evening with the families after they’ve had dinner.
  • Lead arts and crafts, play games, or just hang out.
  • Help with homework or child care.

Evening Activities Volunteers

  • Stay overnight with the families.
  • Prepare breakfast and bag lunches in the morning.
  • Send families off to their jobs or school in the morning.
